Purpose of Role:
Do you want to make a valuable contribution to local knowledge of Nottingham wildlife?

We are looking for passionate volunteers to conduct wildlife and habitat monitoring at our local nature reserves and local wildlife sites, and you do not have to be an expert!

If you enjoy watching wildlife or learning new things, then this could be the role for you as it gives you the opportunity to explore and discover new areas or species of Nottingham.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Nottingham Green Guardians is recruiting new volunteers to work with our Greenspace and Natural Environment team to improve parks, wildlife sites and nature reserves around Nottingham City district.

Wildlife wardens are the eyes and ears around the city; you will work independently in different locations around your corner of the district to monitor and report back about our local wildlife sites and nature reserves. This helps us inform management to improve habitats and protect nature, as well as highlighting wildlife presence.

Applicants do not need professional experience but, a keen personal interest in wildlife and the environment is essential. Our rangers will help guide you, but this is a self-led volunteer role, so must be able to work independently. Our Warden role is split into 4 opportunities- North (Bulwell, Basford, Whitemoor), South (Dunkirk, Clifton), East (City, Sneinton, Colwick), and West (Lenton, Wollaton, Bilborough, Aspley), so it would be beneficial to highlight which area you are best suited to carry out the duties.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
-Enjoy spending time in Nature
-Attention to detail
-Motivation and enthusiasm
-Baseline knowledge UK habitats and species
-Access to a smart phone or to a computer
-Access to a field guides or identification guides
-Access to a camera (or phone with good quality camera) desirable
