Nottingham Green Guardians (project of Nottingham City Council)Location(s): Sherwood
Address where volunteering takes place: Woodthorpe Grange Woodthorpe Park Nottingham NG5 4HAHow many places are on offer?
Purpose of Role:
Gain horticultural experience by volunteering at Woodthorpe Grange Plant Nursery. Work along side our experienced team to grow and nurture thousands of plants for the local community, as well as commercially
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Do you have an interest in plants, gardening or growing? Want to gain experience in the above?
Well, Nottingham Green Guardians are looking for regular volunteers to work in our plant nursery at Woodthorpe Grange Park. The nursery at Woodthorpe has existed since the parks opening in the 1920's (that's over 100 years!), and the green house was built in the 90's to support the ever growing operations which serve the local community, as well as commercial growing for 10 councils.
There is no requirement to have horticultural experience, just an interest in plants and growing from seeds. We do ask that volunteers have good physical fitness as some duties will require lifting, and pushing heavy equipment.
Nursery Volunteers meet every Thursday Morning, 9am-12pm, so applicants must be available at this time most weeks. If your application is successful, you will be invited to an informal interview at Woodthorpe Grange.
