Purpose of Role:
You will be facilitating a reading group session in one of our new Central Library Reading Groups that launched in April 2024. Come along to chat with our wonderful attendees in our brand-new building!
-Read a selected book before the group meets to prepare for the discussion in the following session. For any of our groups, please read a book in whatever format is most comfortable for you.
-Be the designated person to run the session. This includes introducing the book, keeping the conversation flowing during the book discussion and introducing the following book for the next session
-Communicating with the Senior Library Customer Advisor who is responsible for running the reading groups. This includes how the session went, any books requested to read by the attendees and any issues with the groups.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We are currently recruiting a Reading Group Volunteer for The Listening Chain, our audiobook and visually-impaired reading group, and Literary Pride, our LGBTQ+ reading group. The Listening Chain happens between 2 pm to 3 pm every second Wednesday of the month. Literary Pride happens between 2 pm to 3 pm every last Saturday of the month.
All applicants will be invited to an informal chat with the Senior Library Customer Advisor before applications will be progressed.

-Warm, welcoming and open personality
-Enjoy reading and talking about books
-Friendly and enthusiastic individual
-Inclusive of others and comfortable talking with people with different ages, backgrounds and reading interests
-Reliable and can commit to a one-hour session, once a month (per reading group)
-Good communication skills, and an active listener
