Purpose of Role:
At The Access Project, our mission is to support students from under-resourced backgrounds overcome barriers to opportunity. We partner with secondary schools and colleges across the country, who share our belief that all young people with high potential should be given the opportunity to thrive in higher education and the world of work.

We are looking for volunteer coaches to work with a young person aged 16-18, for one hour a month from January to June 2025. All coaching sessions take place online, allowing you to volunteer at a time that works for you.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for volunteer coaches to work with a young person aged 16-18, for one hour a month from January to June 2025. All coaching sessions take place online, allowing you to volunteer at a time that works for you.

In this role, you will:
• Be a role model for your young person, making a lasting impact.
• Help a young person develop the essential skills they need to succeed at university and beyond, focusing on communication, problem solving, collaboration and organisation.
• Draw on your own professional and personal experience, passing on valuable insights and sparking interest in your area of expertise.
• Strengthen your coaching skills through ongoing learning and development opportunities.

No prior experience is necessary to get involved – we’ll provide comprehensive training and support throughout your time volunteering with us. You’ll have access to our coaching handbook and resource library, and a dedicated member of our team will always be on hand to provide help and advice.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
To be eligible to coach, you’ll need to:
• Have completed an undergraduate degree or have 3+ years of professional experience.
• Be able to commit to delivering one coaching session per month, per young person between January and June 2025.
• Be willing to participate in coaching training and undertake a DBS check (cost covered by The Access Project).
• Be based in the UK for the duration of the programme.
