Be the face of the Refugee Forum by organising & supporting events during our 20th anniversary celebrations!
In 2020, Refugee Forum is celebrating our 20th anniversary. We are planning a number of events throughout the year, and are looking for volunteers specifically interested in events organisation to join us on regular or ad hoc basis. Events will include: Open Evenings, Cooking competition, Talent Show, Family Fun Day, Gala Dinner, and others. Events volunteers will help organising events (e.g. liaising with venues, participants, performers, caterers etc.) and supporting events on the day (stewarding, setting up & clearing down venues, manning NNRF info stall). Support from staff & trustees will be available.
Skills and Qualifications:
- good communication skills
- good organisation skills
- interest in event planning/organising
- good English (spoken & written)
- flexible, creative and innovative
- experience of organising community events
- language(s) of refugee communities
- understanding of the UK asylum system
In this role, you will learn about the work of a fast-paced refugee charity and meet the communities we work with. Whilst our primary work is providing advice and support to refugees & asylum seekers in Nottingham & Notts, in this role you will participate in the more fun part of our work - bringing the communities together and celebrating their diversity, resilience, creativity and multitude of talents!
