How many places are on offer?
We believe no one should have to face cancer alone and people tell us they need practical and emotional support during their cancer journey with help locally. Joining this project give you the opportunity to help Macmillan support more people affected by cancer.
Befriending role to listen and talk to people affected by cancer and provide them with a supportive professional friendship. This can help lessen isolation, increase confidence and provide reassurance at a difficult time.
Practical support role which involves one-to-one visits which have been requested by the service user. By helping for just a few hours each week with requested tasks such as housework, light gardening, attend a hospital appointment together or simply collecting shopping can make a real difference for someone on the cancer journey.
Group support role, which may include attending or facilitating cancer support groups.
You do not need to decide which roles you would like to do just yet, as the induction and training will provide more information should you be interested.
