How many places are on offer?
Purpose of Role:
The Survivor Advocacy Support Services (SASS) Support Volunteer allows for more capacity within a very busy team with a main focus on manage waiting lists. They will enable additional support to be provided to survivors by checking in with those waiting and reviewing their needs.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Monday- Friday / Minimum 4 hrs per shift, within core hours 9-5. Once week minimum / Ideally 12 months commitment

Role Summary:
To provide support to the County Survivor Advocacy Support Service (SASS)
The aim of this service is to support female survivors who are living with or who have left an abusive partner through tailored 1-1 support. The team provides crisis, resettlement and ongoing support to women in Nottingham County, including safety planning, sourcing safe housing, advocacy and referrals to other sources of support. The team work pro-actively with women, offering risk assessed, strength based, and needs led support.

Responsibilities and Duties
The list below describes the main activities and tasks of the role but is not a finite list.
Initial Duties:
• Contacting survivors on the waiting list to offer support and where needed:
o Complete Domestic Abuse Stalking and Harassment Risk Indicator Checklists (DASH RIC)
o Immediate Safety planning
o Making safeguarding referrals
o Signposting to relevant agencies (information will be given) for women on the waiting list
• Contacting survivors to complete closing / exit paperwork for feedback and power forms
• Case note completion following calls
Following development additional tasks can be identified with the Team Manager.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
This role would suit someone who:
• Is looking for experience in the women’s and wants to develop skills towards employment.
• Wants to work directly with survivors and has a good knowledge of domestic abuse.
• Is ready and able to listen to survivors experiences of abuse and recognises the personal impact it can have. We would ask that applicants have been out of a Juno support service for 12 months.
• Is able to commit to regular volunteering. This role can be worked around school/University holidays.
• Is confident to work with other agencies e.g. safeguarding, social care, and internal Juno Women’s Aid services.
