How many places are on offer?
NIM requires Costume Interpreters for their weekend opening hours and some ad hoc midweek group and school visits. As this a volunteer role, we are flexible with the number of hours involved. Interpreting can take place in any of our Halls. Manufacturing, Communications, Transport, Victorian Kitchen, Engine Hall or at special events or occasions. Full training will be provided but a willingness to be in costume and 'share the love' is essential.
If you are a history buff, drama queen or king or looking for a fun challenge this role may be the one for you! One of our dedicated Tour Guides will train you up in the Hall of your choice and then we will work on your costume design together.
Skills and Qualifications:
You need a willingness to be in costume, an interest in history (or to learn) and be good with the general public. Being able to tell a story well is an added bonus!
The Museum is open to the public at Weekends and Spring and Summer Bank Holidays 11-4 and midweek by arrangement. Interpreting will be on weekends.
NIM considers all applicants on merit and offers disability access to all Halls.
