The Urban WormLocation(s): Outside of Nottingham City
Address where volunteering takes place: Kentrigg Farm Adbolton Lane Nottingham NG2 5ASHow many places are on offer? 5
Purpose of Role:
.Helping with worm farming and harvesting, tasks within an animal rescue centre and work on a community garden
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
This has to be our most unusual opportunity in the whole area of "environment" volunteering. The Urban Worm is a project that breeds earthworms and produces compost to help gardens stay or become as productive as possible. There is lots of evidence that worms are an essential part of our ecosystem, yet in some areas, they are becoming threatened.
This volunteer role will provide you with a very rare opportunity to learn about worm farming and harvesting and about producing compost.
Since this project is based within an animal rescue centre, you could also be helping out with some of their tasks as well. There is also a community garden, so you could be involved in this as well.
You can also get involved in occasional Saturday or weekend events.
You are welcome to join us for a one-off taster session as well as for regular volunteering
