Purpose of Role:
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run our activity sessions for Young Carers. We have 1 evening group per week from 5pm -7pm, 1-2 Saturdays per month and general activities during school holidays.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run our activity sessions for Young Carers.

We have 1 evening group per week from 5pm -7pm, 1-2 Saturdays per month depending on uptake from Young Carers and general activities during school holidays.

The sessions are for young carers aged 5 -18 and provide a time for them to:

Have a break from their caring responsibilities
Meet new people
Relax and have fun..

We are looking for volunteers to help us to:
Plan sessions, set up and facilitate the sessions.
Talk to and support the children and young people during the sessions
Encouraging them to get involved in the activities.

The sessions include games, music, sports (both indoor and outdoor) arts and craft and various workshops including training

There is an option to help with transporting the Young Carers to and from activities if you are able.

This role provides an opportunity to understand the issues and challenges that young carers face on a daily basis; it will also give you insight into various health conditions that Young Carers live with.

This role would be really helpful for someone who is interested in working within the Health and social care sector/Voluntary Young Persons sector or Education.

As part of volunteering with Carers Federation, Action for young Carers you will be offered free safeguarding training for both children and Adults alongside various training relevant to the role.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
We seek enthusiastic, fun, empathetic, caring, responsible and reliable volunteers who:

Have an understanding of and respect for confidentiality.
Enjoy being creative and having fun.
Have experience supporting children or young people through family, volunteering or work

An enhanced DBS check is required.
You will need to attend Children's Safeguarding training that we can arrange
Other related training available
Travel expenses reimbursed
Full driving licence would be a bonus but not essential.
