Purpose of Role:
Be the voice of Refugee Forum & volunteer from the comfort of your own home! Our Remote Receptionists receive calls from our service users, partner organisations and community members, take their details and direct them to appropriate staff.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Remote Receptionists are the first point of contact for service users, partners and community members calling our main telephone line. They ensure the callers are listened to and understood, their issues recorded and passed on to the right staff member, and that all this is done with empathy, patience, warmth and professionalism.
Out phone lines are open Monday to Thursday 10am to 3pm. We ask our volunteers to commit to one day per week, ideally longer-term. Induction, Reception Guidance document and ongoing support from supervising staff are provided, as well as a basic mobile phone and tech support.
We are currently looking for new volunteers with regular availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, 10am - 3pm.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good communication skills, including good telephone skills
- Good listening skills
- Good command of English
- Good level of computer knowledge (internet, Outlook)
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Speaking a language of refugee communities is a plus!
