ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Do you enjoy helping people connect? Are you outgoing and positive? Are you able to help provide a friendly social atmosphere? If the answer is yes to these questions, this is the perfect role for you.
Our social groups in Mansfield meeting on a Wednesday morning, Worksop meeting on a Monday morning, and Newark meeting on a Tuesday morning , all meet twice a month twice a month, our members who live with Sight Loss in these areas can meet and connect again. These groups are so important to our members; it means that they are able to connect with others living with sight loss, and gives each person the reassurance that they aren't going through difficulties alone. They also provide an opportunity for peer to peer support and information which can help with independence, mobility and other important aspects.
As a social group volunteer you'll be responsible for:
- Providing Sighted Guide to visually impaired participants
- Providing support with organising each activities
- Being friendly and welcoming to the center and helping members to connect with one another
- Any other Ad-Hoc duties as required
You'll receive full training for this role as well as travel expenses for volunteering. We provide continued support to our volunteers, who can benefit from My Sight Nott's volunteering opportunities.
A DBS check is required for the role, and all the costs will be covered by My Sight Notts.
