An exciting and flexible role for people interested in working within diverse and often under represented communities. You would be working within Black and Minority Ethnic communities helping to raise awareness of preventable sight loss.
My Sight Nottinghamshire has launched an exciting new project to raise awareness of eye health in BAME communities. This project aims to remove potential barriers for minority groups in accessing services, help to ensure Black, Asian and other ethnic backgrounds have their voices heard in shaping services, raise awareness of sight conditions and help people to avoid preventable sight loss.
Volunteers will be working with our BAME officer with a variety of roles available to suit your needs.
·Translating (for speakers of other languages)
·Speaking to groups of people
·Organising events and supporting the development of the project
Skills and Qualifications:
Volunteers need to be friendly, approachable and understanding. The role will enable you to have a better understanding of sight loss and give you all the tools needed to be able to confidently represent My Sight Nottinghamshire in a variety of settings.
