Purpose of Role:
Hoops Knowledge Academy Is a Basketball project with a difference.Young people aged 9-16yrs olds, who want to take the sport seriously and progress to an elite level. We also want to reach young people who are vulnerable or at risk of crime.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Hoops Knowledge Academy Is a Basketball project with a difference. We aim to Target young people aged 9-16yrs old and those who want to take the sport seriously and progress to an elite level. We also want to reach young people who are vulnerable or at risk of being involved in knife crime and anti-social behaviour.

Young people will get the chance to become young leaders and become positive role models to the younger participants of the club. A young leader will get the chance to plan sessions and support in coaching sessions. They will also get the opportunity to work towards coaching qualifications.

Children 9 - 12 years old will take part in basketball sessions that teach the basic fundamentals of the sport and ensure they have fun. They will also get the chance to play in friendlies.

Young people ages 13- 16 yrs old will be taught more advanced skills and given the opportunity to play in league matches.

Young people will be given the chance to have a mentor who will give them one-to-one support once a month and will be given educational and employment support and advice for young people that especially fit the NEETS criteria. Young people will also gain the opportunity to be scouted to bigger clubs. All young people will be rewarded with activities and prizes based on positive outcomes and behaviour, as we believe in making young people feel valued.

You DON'T need any experience or formal qualifications for this role.

You will have a strong interest in supporting young people

You will be able to offer great ideas for projects and activities and help to put them into action
You will be part of the club's leadership team
You will be a role model of motivated, positive activity.
You will be a great listener to understand young peoples' views and opinions, helping to build their self-esteem and confidence.
You will love having fun.

An interest in basketball would be helpful, but is not essential as there will be a qualified basketball coach at each session.
