Purpose of Role:
Talk to students with mild to moderate eating disorders at Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham by email about their recovery journey and any challeges they may be facing.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for volunteers to support our ever expanding Eating Disorders In Student Service (EDISS) project at Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham. Our goal is to support students with mild to moderate eating disorders and difficulties.

First Steps offer befriending for anyone who might benefit from one to one support over email by creating a means of communication to discuss the service users' recovery and challenges that may arise along the journey.

As a volunteer you will have at least two service users to befriend at any one time, who you will make an agreement with to communicate via one email per day for two days each week.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
For this role, you will need:

Ability to send and reply to emails
Confidence in talking to people
Enthusiasm
Knowledge of or willingness to learn about eating disorders
Empathy
Recognition of the importance of confidentiality

You will have the opportunity to develop:
