Purpose of Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a huge difference in your community by joining one of our local teams of volunteers to raise awareness of Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

Role Description:

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a huge difference in your community by joining one of our local teams of volunteers to raise awareness of Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Taking an active role helping the team in planning and delivering events; building communities; fundraising; social media activity; creating local newsletters; giving local grants, working with hospitals and so much more to make a positive impact for the 300,000 people affected by Crohn's and Colitis across the UK

What this role involves:
To raise awareness of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and the Charity in your local area.
To take an active role in planning and delivering events and activities across the Network.
To attend and proactively contribute to Organising Team meetings.
To support the team in building relationships throughout the Network area.
To be flexible in your role to support the Networks outputs.
To maintain good communication with the Network Lead about your availability.
To volunteer within the Charity’s Terms of Reference, guidance and procedures.
To represent the Charity within the local community.

Examples of the types of events and activities volunteers can get involved with include:
Social Media
Fundraising events and collections
Information/Awareness stalls
Educational meetings
Social activities
Campaigning
Writing articles & editing newsletters
Responding to Network email queries

Skills and Qualifications:

We're looking for people who can join a team and give approximately 3 hours per week (12 hours per month), usually on weekday evenings and weekends - the role is really flexible, even if you can't quite manage the three hours as there are no set days or times, so you can organise your involvement around other commitments you may have. To make a real impact, we advise a long-term commitment of volunteering for at least twelve months, but this is not compulsory.

We're looking for people who are:

Good team workers and proactive
Compassionate, open and approachable
Organised and can communicate effectively
Willing to travel to events and plan sessions and activities
Willing to develop relationships and links in the local community

Practical considerations
Are you passionate in collaborating with others? Teams are volunteer-led and they make the biggest difference in their communities when everyone pulls together.
Are you able to travel throughout your local region? Teams decide where and when to host events across the local area in order to make the biggest impact for people affected by Crohn's and Colitis.
