Purpose of Role:
Our upcycling and repair volunteers work closely with the fashion supply team at our distribution centre in Nottingham to repurpose our generous donations. This role includes repairing donations and upcycling clothing and textiles in an unsellable condition, transforming them into new garments. It is our mission to make every donation count and our volunteers make a real difference to help us achieve this.
You don’t need any experience to volunteer, all we ask is that you are motivated, hardworking and keen to learn new skills or share your knowledge, experience and talents to support an amazing cause!
We offer a full induction as well as ongoing training opportunities to make sure you feel confident and able to excel in your volunteer role with White Rose.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
• Making repairs as needed (sewing missing fastenings, repair seams etc)
• Repurposing damaged clothing using scrap textiles into new one off pieces.
• Liaising with the upcycling supervisor and fashion supply team on ways to improve repairs.
• Help think of innovative and creative ways to repurpose textiles and clothing.
*Knowledge and experience of basic DIY sewing skills is helpful for this role but not necessary as full training will be provide and it is a great opportunity for anyone interested in gaining experience in fashion design, garment making and sewing.*

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A basica knowledge of hand and/or machine sewing is preferable but not necessary as training can be provided.
