Purpose of Role:
The Sybil Levin Day Service is a specialist SPECAL-Led day service supporting people with dementia and their carers using the SPECAL method. It is open during the day, Monday to Friday, and Age UK Notts are looking for volunteers to provide kitchen and domestic support during busy times such as breakfast lunch time and at other intervals in the day when drinks and snacks are served. We are specifically looking for volunteers on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Volunteer Dementia Support Kitchen Assistant will involve providing kitchen and domestic support at the Sybil Levin Centre during busy times such as breakfast lunch time and at other intervals in the day when drinks and snacks are served.
The activities you might be involved with include the following:
Assisting staff members to prepare food and drinks
Setting and clearing tables for breakfast and lunch
Washing up
Loading/unloading the dishwasher
Loading/unloading the washing machine
Serving food and drinks at various times throughout the day
Wiping down tables
Sweeping under tables following lunch
General domestic support

What are we looking for?
• People with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people
• A friendly, sensitive, and kind approach
• Being comfortable talking with people with dementia
• Volunteers will either be required to have or be prepared to undertake training to obtain a basic food hygiene certificate (at no cost to the volunteer)
