Purpose of Role:
Along with seasonal paid workers, the success of Bulwell Forest Garden relies on Events Volunteers from the local community to help us run events and regular activities. Depending on availability and preference, volunteers can assist with the events that suit them.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Event volunteering opportunities include:
Lunch Club runs every Friday during the summer, 10:30 - 1:30,
Family Sessions take place every Monday during school holidays, 12:00 - 4:00,
Harvest Festival and Bulwell Art Festival - the dates of these events change annually.
Other opportunities may arise as we organise activities and events. We will let you know and invite you to be involved.
Key Tasks
Lunch Club (available to all the community, and particularly aimed at older people)
Help to harvest fruit and vegetables that are to be used in that day's activity
Help to set up the cooking area, tend to any stoves safely and provide hot drinks
Work alongside our Lead Volunteers and Workers to cook a community meal
Welcome visitors and ensure everyone feels included
Help to clear away, recycle and compost
Family Sessions/Harvest Festival/Bulwell Art Festival (including nature based crafts and activities)
Work alongside our Lead Volunteers to plan and prepare activities
Ensure sufficient resources are available for the activity, including rubbish bags and hand wipes where necessary.
Welcome visitors and have a basic knowledge of facilities to promote to visitors (i.e. where the toilet is, what we do with the fruit and veg).
Deliver an activity, alongside another person or independently, and encourage parent involvement
Help to clear away, recycle and compost
