Purpose of Role:
Help support our sessions by helping to set up, support the children & young people take part in activities and generally support the session co-ordinator. This role offers excellent experience for individuals who want to work in social care.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Could you be the Volunteer we are looking for at one of our Family Support Hubs?

Now in our 5th year we are looking for volunteers to support the work of our Family Support Hubs at all our established locations , including ; Nottingham City; Newark; East Leake; Heanor; Kirkby in Ashfield; Mansfield Woodhouse; Worksop, Chesterfield & Retford. The Family Support Hubs are monthly meetings for families with children to attend to get help, information & support. Activities are provided for the children who attend the sessions these include arts & craft, games, puzzles, light baking /food activities, sensory & soft play.

We need volunteers to help support these sessions; helping to set up, support the children & young people take part in activities and generally support the session co-ordinator. This role offers excellent experience for individuals who want to work with children or wish to develop a career in social care.

The Hubs each meet monthly and we are asking for volunteers to attend for at least one Hub per month- usually 3/4 hours- for at least a minimum of 6 months. We also will be offering training .The Hub sessions are either after school during the week or on a Saturday - depending on which area Hub you are volunteering for.

We require an application, an informal interview, two references and a DBS check to ensure we adhere to safer recruitment. If you think this is the role for you or would like further information, then please contact us.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Whilst you are volunteering with Autism East Midlands we will;

· Provide a full introduction on the work of Autism East Midlands its staff, your volunteering role and any equipment or training necessary.
· Ensure tasks are fully accessible
· Provide you with a named supervisor and feedback on a regular basis
· Ensure there is flexibility and personal development opportunities in your volunteering role
· Adhere to Autism East Midlands policies and procedures regarding volunteering
· Provide you with a safe environment in which to volunteer
· Treat you fairly and without discrimination, with respect and consideration at all times
· Provide you with the opportunity to influence Autism East Midlands work and ask for your views about any changes
· Reimburse reasonable out of pocket expenses where there are receipts or similar evidence of cost to you
· Provide adequate insurance cover for you whilst carrying out any tasks approved and authorised by us
· Value your contribution to the organisation
· Try to resolve any problems or difficulties whilst volunteering with us in a fair and just manner

· Perform your role to the best of your ability
· Attend at the dates and times that you have agreed, and let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend
· Provide referees and agree to a DBS check (where applicable)
· Be reliable, honest and most importantly enthusiastic!
· Respect charity policies and abide by them at all times
· Complete training where appropriate
