We are seeking new volunteer governors with a whole range of skills and experience for our academy governing bodies who feel that they share our vision and want to make a difference.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We believe that every child has the right to an education that gives them the best opportunities to succeed and prosper. Everyone in the trust is fully committed to learning and our ethos is to be innovative, develop resilience and strive for excellence.

We are seeking new volunteer governors with a whole range of skills and experience for our academy governing bodies who feel that they share our vision and want to make a difference. You don’t need a background in education or to have school age children, just an interest in how schools are run and a willingness to challenge and support the Head teacher and their staff in the role of a ‘critical friend’. We would appreciate if you could indicate if you are interested in supporting a particular school or are willing to be involved in any school across the Trust. If you would like to find out more about our Trust and its Academies we would love to hear from you. Please see our website for further details www.djanogly.org.

Although the roles are voluntary we can cover reasonable travel expenses if required and will provide any necessary training.

The Djanogly Learning Trust (DLT) is a multi-academy trust based in Nottingham and Derbyshire made up of seven primary schools and one secondary school across the region. These are:
- Djanogly Northgate on Suez Street, Nottingham;
- Djanogly Sherwood on Sherwood Rise, Nottingham;
- Djanogly Strelley on Helston Drive, Strelley, Nottingham;
- Laceyfields Academy in Heanor, Derbyshire;
- Langley Mill Academy in Langley Mill, Derbyshire;
- Kensington Junior Academy, Ilkeston, Derbyshire;
- Springfield Academy in Bulwell, Nottingham
- Djanogly City Academy on Gregory Boulevard and Sherwood Rise, Nottingham.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
You don’t need a background in education or to have school age children, just an interest in how schools are run and a willingness to challenge and support the Head teacher and their staff in the role of a ‘critical friend’.

Governors commit no more than 10 hours a term to the school although there is opportunity to give more time if you are interested. There are two hour meetings once every half term and, Covid restrictions allowing, the Governors are asked to make at least one school visit each year and report back to the board. The other commitments are in reading meeting papers and getting involved in safeguarding and other training. Also you will be required to have a DBS check if accepted onto a governing body, which we will arrange. In return you get the opportunity to:

· Take on a responsible role.

· Learn a lot and develop new skills.

· Make a difference for parents, and to influence the way the academy works with them.

· Make a difference for all children in years to come.
