Purpose of Role:
The purpose of this role is to collect surplus food from supermarkets and redistribute it to local community partners such as homeless shelters and food banks; as well as delivering bread to school breakfast clubs.
This role is invaluable within our organisation as our volunteer drivers allow us to run our redistribution network, preventing food going to waste and supporting local community projects and organisations.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The role will be carried out individually however there is lots of interaction with community projects, schools and store volunteers when collecting and redistributing food.

The main tasks for the role include:
• Collecting bread from Hovis on a Monday and delivering to three local schools.
• Collecting surplus and donated food from supermarkets and delivering to our store in Sneinton.
• Weighing in stock.

This role is:
• Monday morning every week- 1-3 hours.
• Flexible the rest of the week to suit our volunteers and to respond to alerts from supermarkets for collections.

Van parked- Triumph Rd, Lenton, Nottingham NG7 2GA
Store- 101 Sneinton Road, Nottingham, NG2 4QL

Induction and relevant training will be undertaken and provided by the Redistribution Operations Manager. Once inducted and completed relevant forms volunteers will be added to our van driver Whatsapp group. Communication via the whatsapp group with our redistribution operation manager is always available as well as a van driver handbook with all the necessary information which will be sent once induction is completed.

• Helping to save 212,163kg of CO2 through the preventing food go to waste.
• Building skills in communication through working with a range of different people.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential Skills and Qualifications
• Over 18 and hold a UK driver’s licence.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Confident driving around Nottingham.
• Confident driving a small van.
