Purpose of Role:
Bells Lane Community Centre has been at the heart of their community for many years, but now they’re looking for your skills, experience and enthusiasm to help them provide better services for local people. As the Chair, you will be one of the board of trustees. You will help to ensure that the community centre meets its statutory and other obligations. You will be involved in making collective decisions and you will also be responsible for ensuring that the centre is run to the highest standards.
Meetings will normally be held at Bells Lane Community Centre, but may also be online.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
What are the responsibilities of the role?
• Chairing board meetings
• Responsible, with other trustees for producing and sending annual reports to the Charity Commission and Companies House
• Providing strategic leadership to the board
• Overseeing the centre’s performance and the strategic direction to be adopted in a post COVID-19 environment
• Overseeing the ethics and business practices
• Establishing links with relevant customer bases, organisations and societies
• Providing input for marketing and sales initiatives
• Attending the Trustees meetings to consider financial reports and other strategic business matters
• Ensuring Bells Lane Community centre is accountable
• Acting with reasonable care and skill
• Acting as an ambassador for Bells Lane Community Centre
• Safeguarding the good name and values of Bells Lane Community Centre
• Positively committing to, and actively promoting Equality and Diversity
• In addition to the above, each director should use any specific knowledge or experience they may have to help the board reach sound decisions.
