Purpose of Role:
Help our users to get hold of wheelchairs and equipment on short term hire (not for profit) and enable them to have freedom of movement when faced with challenging situations.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The volunteer will be involved in all aspects of hiring out wheelchairs and commodes to members of the public (on a non-profit basis). Bookings will be taken on the phone and online, equipment will be issued to customers, and equipment will be received back from customers. The role involves using a computer based stock management & booking system which is intuitive and all training will be provided. The volunteer needs to have empathy and a caring nature as some of the customers will be in a vulnerable or distressing situation. Some limited cash handling will be required. Shift times are generally weekday mornings, with a minimum of one shift per week.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Caring nature. Empathy. Basic computer skills. Use of the Red cross computer booking system, Safe use of wheelchairs, Infection control of Covid Safe procedures will all be part of the training.
