Community groups in parts of Nottingham can now apply for up to £10,000 through the Travel Well Community Grant Scheme – a one-off fund to help buy equipment that encourages walking and cycling.
The scheme supports projects in Aspley, Beechdale, Bilborough, Bulwell, Bulwell Forest, St Ann’s, and Sneinton and is part of the nationally funded Travel Well programme – a trial of 'active travel social prescribing', where walking and cycling are recommended to improve health and wellbeing.
Groups could use the grant to buy things like cycle parking stands, bikes, locks, lights, walking gear, umbrellas, or storage facilities. The aim is to make walking and cycling more accessible for everyone, whether or not they are directly involved in Travel Well referrals from healthcare professionals or community organisations.
