The Wolfson Foundation offers capital funding to support organisations that provide care and services for older people, particularly those who are isolated or living with a neurodegenerative condition. Grants are available for new buildings, refurbishment projects, and equipment.
Eligible applicants must be UK-based registered or exempt charities or local authorities. If your organisation is subject to regulation (such as by the CQC), you must hold at least a ‘Good’ rating.
Projects must involve capital costs of at least £50,000 and demonstrate a shortfall in funding of at least £25,000. The Wolfson Foundation typically awards grants ranging from £40,000 to £75,000, with a minimum grant amount of £25,000.
Match funding may be required. For projects costing between £50,000 and £80,000, some matched funding is expected. For projects over £80,000, applicants must already have at least 25% of match funding in place when submitting a Stage 2 application.
To be eligible, projects must also aim to meet at least one of the following goals:
- Increase access to services for new and existing users
- Improve the quality and range of services offered
- Support the long-term sustainability of the organisation
The funding is open to projects located anywhere in the UK. Further details, including how to apply, can be found on the Wolfson Foundation’s website.
