Material Focus: Electricals Recycling Fund

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis

Material Focus, an independent not-for-profit organisation dedicated to reducing waste from unwanted electricals, has launched a new round of funding for 2025/26. A total of £750,000 is available to support projects that make it easier for people to repair, reuse or recycle their consumer electrical items.

Funding is available for two types of projects:

  • Expanding existing collection schemes for small electricals (up to £100,000 per applicant, based on £0.50 per household served).
  • Testing new ways of repairing, reusing or recycling electricals (up to £50,000 per project, with higher awards possible for initiatives showing strong long-term impact and wide reach).

Projects should run for at least 12 months and may focus on increasing convenience for households, diverting more items from waste, or building sustainable models of repair and reuse.

Applications are open to a wide range of organisations, including charities, local authorities, waste partnerships, private contractors, companies and compliance schemes. In addition to funding, Material Focus will offer successful applicants practical project management support.
