Community Grants for projects that tackle unemployment

Round three of Futures Community Grants programme opened for applications this week (Monday 15 June 2020).

Jointly funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and the European Social Fund, the Community Grants programme gives small charities and voluntary/community organisations, with a turnover of less than £500,000, an opportunity to access funds to deliver projects that help engage and progress hard to reach individuals towards the labour market.

Grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 are available for projects or initiatives that help people take steps towards a future career and reduce unemployment and inactivity.

Priority will be given to applications that target participants who are:

  • Over 50
  • Have learning difficulties and disabilities
  • From minority ethnic backgrounds
  • Women
  • Unemployed for over six months
  • Furthest removed from the labour market and facing significant barriers to employment

Ashley Wilkinson, Community Grants Coordinator, said "We had a very successful Round two and approved 41 grants across the East Midlands region, totalling almost £700k. These groups are doing a fantastic job supporting some of our most vulnerable and isolated people through the current COVID-19 pandemic. We are committed to supporting community groups to deliver their employability initiatives."

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 15 July 2020. This round will support projects running from 1 September 2020 to 28 February 2021.

Further information and the application form can be found on the Futures website.
