Creative Foundations Fund

The deadline for applications is Friday 25 July 2025, 12 noon

Creative and cultural organisations across England are being offered a major boost thanks to the new Creative Foundations Fund, an open-access capital fund designed to breathe new life into the country’s cultural spaces.

Whether it's revitalising a much-loved community venue, restoring historic infrastructure, retrofitting buildings to be more sustainable, or tackling urgent repairs, the fund is here to help organisations better serve the public.

The fund is split into two strands:

  • Strand 1 offers grants between £100,000 and £1 million, with up to £25 million available in total.
  • Strand 2 supports larger-scale projects, with grants from £1 million up to £10 million and a total of £60 million available.

Applicants can only apply to one strand, not both. It's possible to apply for a combination of building works and equipment in one application, though equipment-only projects are not eligible under Strand 2. If building work is included, applicants must also provide the required supporting documents.

The fund aims to:

  • Improve the economic sustainability of creative and cultural organisations by upgrading buildings and equipment.
  • Reduce the risk of cancellations or closures due to infrastructure or equipment failures.
  • Increase public access, particularly for underserved communities, to engaging, high-quality creative experiences.

This is a significant opportunity for organisations to future-proof their spaces, reach new audiences, and play a bigger role in their communities' cultural life.
