Community Cohesion and Hate Crime £100,000 Grant

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 10 June 2025

Nottingham City Council has launched the Community Cohesion and Hate Crime £100,000 Grant application process, offering a major opportunity for local organisations to help strengthen community ties and tackle hate across Nottingham.

This is a one-off grant of up to £100,000 for two years to support one Voluntary and Community Sector organisation or a partnership of organisations to deliver activities that promote cohesion and challenge hate across Nottingham city.

This funding, to rebuild social trust and promote cohesion between communities has been allocated to Nottingham City by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). It is in response to the significant and widespread disorder which led to negative behaviours such as racism and islamophobia within local communities in England in July and August 2024.

This strategic grant is designed to help Nottingham City address and reduce hate crime/incidents, and improve community relations, understanding and cohesion between local people.

Cohesive communities, are places that:

  • Offer a common vision and a sense of belonging for all
  • Positively value diversity
  • Provide equal opportunities to people from different backgrounds and
  • Provide an environment where strong and positive relationships can be developed between people from different backgrounds.

Organisations interested in applying should download the full guidance and application form.

Any queries about the grant can be sent to community.cohesion@nottinghamcity.gov.uk

Further funding opportunities will be announced soon:

Nottingham City Council will also be releasing two further funding opportunities from this grant:

  • Grants of up to £1,500 for smaller activities
  • Grants of up to £7,500 for larger events and projects

These will provide more opportunities for local groups to deliver activities that promote cohesion and celebrate Nottingham’s diversity. We will share details as soon as these become available.
