Open Programme grants are usually between £10,000 and £30,000 per year and are awarded for one to three years. Insofar as possible, they provide unrestricted funding.
Applicants can apply for four separate funds:
- The Human Rights Framework
The funding for this priority area will not cover single issue or single right campaigning work, nor human rights work focusing on specific groups or communities.
- Access to Justice
ABCT seeks funding for legal organisations, focusing on experts in specific areas and providing specialist advice to marginalised groups. They also support systemic work, including campaigning, policy, narrative change, strategic legal action, defending justice systems, and strengthening the rule of law.
- The Criminal Legal System and Penal Reform
This funding aims to promote change and equity, focusing on marginalised communities, particularly racialised ones, and supporting individuals and families in the criminal legal system, from prevention to release.
- Migrants and Refugees
Funding aims to support work addressing destitution, trafficking, immigration detention, and discrimination faced by marginalised communities, including racialised groups, to bring about change and impact intersecting disadvantages.
