Executive Function

Part of a new Practice Development Unit (PDU) online learning series where practitioners can develop their understanding of neurodivergence in the context of severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD). This session will be delivered by Amelia Draper and Jeremy Garner from Changing Futures Nottingham.

This session explains the umbrella term of neurodivergence and some common challenges neurodivergent people experience. It will consider case studies of neurodivergence in people experiencing  severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD) and takes a deeper look at executive functioning, including what is happening in the brain when someone regularly experiences executive dysfunction. It will provide examples of how to make adjustments to your approach to be inclusive of neurodivergence with a trauma-informed lens.
