Purpose of Role:
Our shop volunteers are hugely important to Rainbows, whilst being out on ‘the high street’ our volunteers raise the profile of Rainbows, they sell products and generate essential income to support the work of the hospice.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Will it suit me?

If you are personable, confident with speaking to a wide variety of people and would enjoy displaying and selling Rainbows’ products or donated items then being part of the retail team, could be perfect. You do not need previous retail experience but will need to be a good communicator and flexible with approaching tasks. We offer flexible working shifts to all with options including: 2-hour shifts, half a day or more.

Typical tasks the work could involve:
- Providing a warm and welcoming environment with the best customer service
- Undertake routine duties to include serving customers at the till, wrapping goods, handling cash/cheques/credit card payments and issuing receipts
- Sort and arrange any donated items ready for sale in accordance with shop guidelines and in-line with managers’ requests (steaming, hanging, deciding on a price in accordance with the pricing guidelines, ticketing and displaying)
- Ensure shelves, rails and the shop window are well displayed with stock and refreshed on a regular basis in line with Rainbows guidelines
- Assist with displays in all areas of the shop including the shop window and mannequins
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
No formal skills or qualifications are required, just a willingness to get involved. Interested individuals will enjoy working with all types of people, be a good team player but also able to use their own initiative. Have good communication skills and be organized.
