Make a difference to our community and gain new skills by becoming a cafe volunteer. Braille and Bean offers a safe space for people to discuss their struggles with sight loss, without fear of judgement or discrimination.
We have opened a brand new community cafe, the Braille and Bean, a safe place for our service users and volunteers to go for lunch and good quality coffee and to have the opportunity to discuss their struggles with sight loss where they don't have to fear judgement or discrimination.
Our cafe volunteers have the opportunity to gain new skills and experience by:
- Making hot drinks with the machine
- Preparing and Serving hot and cold food to customers
- Taking payments
- Ensuring tables are clear and clean for the next customer
- Assisting customers with guiding
- Supporting customers in other areas as they ask
You will receive training for this role (sight loss awareness training and food hygiene Level 2)
Skills and Qualifications:
A background in customer services is desirable, but being person centred is essential. All other training is provided.
