How many places are on offer?
You are invited to help support our service for 25 to 30 older people by volunteering to help to set up, run and clear away the lunch club which runs Monday to Thursday.
We are seeking to extend our group of volunteers for holiday cover.
Our volunteers arrive around 9.45 and set up service ready for our members arriving at 10. We welcome our members and serve tea and biscuits and cake.
One volunteer throughout the morning takes responsibility of collecting the 50p’s for bingo and another volunteer collects the £1 bonus ball money that most of our members partake in.
There are generally three volunteers serving around 25 to 30 members. Just before 12 we encourage our members to take their seats at a dining table and serve cold juice/cordial. We take their orders as in a medium or regular sized meal and then serve table by table working to a daily routine. We clear the crockery after the dinner and serve pudding. We then clear again and serve tea or coffee.
As members leave around 1 ish the tables are cleaned down and re-laid for the next day. Volunteers should be finished by 1.30.
Volunteers are invited to sit and enjoy a meal also as part of a thank you for their commitment.
