NCVS launches new Training and Development Programme

We've launched a brand new Training and Development Programme to support community and voluntary groups/organisations with many aspects of their day-to-day running.

All courses take place online via Zoom and are run by NCVS staff, as well as some sessions which are being provided by external trainers. Prices start from just £10.

Our interactive online courses build on the latest policy issues that affect the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector, including new legislation briefings, and will enable you to keep up to date with staff, trustee and volunteer development.

New courses added to our programme

Starting in April, all of our popular online courses are back, including our full safeguarding training programme which is endorsed by both the Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Board and the Nottingham City Safeguarding Adult Board. We've also introduced some new sessions to our programme, including:

  • Setting up a Social Enterprise - A training course designed to help those wishing to set up a not-for-profit business with a social purpose to make an informed choice on what the right structure for their organisation should be.

  • Mental Health Awareness - Delivered by registered Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA) Instructor Claire Henson, this introductory course will raise awareness of mental health issues and give initial guidance on how to support people who may be experiencing mental ill health. The course is an excellent starting point for anyone who is working in the field of mental health or for an organisation that wants to raise staff and volunteer awareness of mental health issues.

  • Is Your Insurance Appropriate? - A free online workshop, in partnership with specialist third sector insurance broker Ladbrook Insurance, on the subject of risk and insurance for community organisations. Relevant for anyone in a position of influence regarding insurance matters for charities, community groups and not for profit organisations.

  • Introduction to Health and Safety and Risk Assessments - A two-hour session explaining the basics of health and safety and how to carry out a risk assessment, available from July. This session is suitable for trustees, staff, volunteers, and in fact anyone wanting to develop a basic understanding of health and safety, including risk assessments.

Jules Sebelin, NCVS Chief Executive Officer said, "We are really pleased to announce our new training programme that is jam-packed with many old favourites as well as some new topics.  Make sure to reserve early as places go quickly."
