NHS Volunteer/Parent Carer Trevor Clower, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award in the NottinghamshireLive Heroes Awards.
The awards celebrate and honour the achievements of the remarkable people who make Nottinghamshire a better place.
Trevor won the award in recognition of his work in championing unpaid carers. His dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment have made a big difference to the health and wellbeing of unpaid carers across Nottinghamshire. He has done a huge amount for the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust over the years, including helping to design a Carers Awareness Course for their staff. He now co-facilitates this course as a volunteer.
Since 2013, Trevor has also run the Carers Roadshow, which combines the resources of 93 organisations to provide advice and support to unpaid carers. Trevor has staged 20 shows a year for the past eight years, ensuring that people who have taken up an extremely demanding and selfless job, are getting the care that they deserve in turn. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Trevor was not daunted - holding a recent virtual roadshow, to ensure that his good work could continue.
Trevor said, “I am honoured to have won this award. It is brilliant that hopefully this will mean more people can become aware of the Carers Roadshows. I am committed to making sure unpaid carers know what support there is available, that is what it is all about. Thank you to everyone who chose me as their winner.”
