This Fund is designed to reach older people who are most likely to be missing out, now and beyond the coronavirus pandemic. There are three rounds of funding coming up. Registered charities can apply for between £5,000 and £15,000 for up to six months. Please be aware you can only apply once. If you have been unsuccessful, you will not be able to re-apply in a later funding round.
Before coronavirus struck the nation, Independent Age was exploring how to strengthen collaboration with older people and local organisations with the aim of shaping a more active role in supporting communities. Right now, their focus is being directed towards the current crisis. Trustees have released £2 million from Independent Age’s funds to help smaller organisations across the UK working with older people hardest hit by the virus.
Funding is for registered charities only who have a minimum of two years' published charity accounts. Charities must have at least one paid member of staff (part-time is fine) and an annual income of £1 million or less (averaged across the last three financial years). The organisation must already be working with older people living in particularly complex and challenging situations and/or older people in danger of being out of sight and out of mind.
- Round 2 closes for applications at 9am on 2 July 2020. Decisions will be confirmed on 5 August.
- Round 3 closes for applications at 9am on 21 August 2020. Decisions will be confirmed on 24 September.
- Round 4 closes for applications at 9am on 18 September 2020. Decisions will be made in November (date to be confirmed).
