CCG consultation on healthy lifestyle service

NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are running a consultation to inform the creation of a new holistic, healthy lifestyle service for children and young people who are significantly above a healthy weight without having other health issues. This service will provide support for those in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County (not including Bassetlaw).

The CCG would like to hear from children and young people up to the age of 18, their parents and carers and frontline professionals with experience of weight management services.

The information will also be used by the hospital (Nottingham University Hospitals) as they prepare to become a regional hub for children for the treatment of complications related to excess weight (CREW).

What is currently available?

Services are available through the local authorities for children and young people who require mild to moderate weight management support. Children who are significantly above a healthy weight with other related health issues are seen by the relevant service in the hospital department relating to their other healthcare issues e.g. diabetes.

This means there is a gap in services to support children and young people who are significantly above a healthy weight without other healthcare issues. The CCG is looking to fill this gap by developing a service for children and young people needing support at this stage.
