This course is an excellent starting point for anyone who is working in the field of mental health or for an organisation that wants to raise staff and volunteer awareness of mental health issues.
It is an introductory course and will be delivered by Claire Henson, a qualified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor based in Nottingham. Claire specialises in delivering adult mental health training to organisations, businesses and community groups across the country. Opportunities to access further training can be discussed directly with the trainer.
The course covers:
- What mental health is and how to challenge stigma
- A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
- An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing
- Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue
The course fee of £40 includes a training fee of £25 plus £15 to cover the cost of the accompanying resource pack which is yours to keep and will be mailed directly from Mental Health First Aid England to each registered participant. When you register for this course, you will receive a confirmation email from NCVS with instructions about how to claim your resource pack. All participants require the resource pack to complete this course.
This course does not lead to a qualification. However, each participant will receive a certificate of attendance to say you are Mental Health Aware.
