Many issues raised at previous meetings have been relevant to both Networks, so this meeting gives participants an opportunity to develop wider partnerships.
Alongside time for networking and discussion about the current concerns, issues and threats posed locally by the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be a number of presentations. Speakers include:
- Lizzie Whittington, Regional Safeguarding Outreach Officer for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) in the East Midlands will introduce herself and discuss how she can support local organisations with DBS related enquiries and safer recruitment practices.
- Lucy Gardner, Education Manager (East and West Midlands) from the Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) will provide an overview of the Trust and discuss how organisations can get more involved and what training opportunities are available.
- Dawn Claypole, Chief Executive Officer, Literacy Volunteers Nottinghamshire will provide feedback on the progress of the Early Outcomes Fund work which aims to achieve better outcomes for Nottingham City children through the development of a Speech, Language and Communications Strategy.
- Celina Adams, Head of Support Services at NCVS will provide an update on the Community Assets Assessment project to build a comprehensive picture of assets in communities affected by serious violence, plus the latest on safeguarding training.
