Volunteer Coordinators 'And Managers' Network With added VCN Plus for 2008
Nottingham's Volunteer Coordinators' And Managers' Network (VCN has been providing support for volunteer
coordinators for many years. It has changed and grown over that time into the effective network that it
is today with almost 200 members. But we've never been happy to sit back, and the VCN is set to change again
during 2008 with a whole new programme of training, meetings and events running alongside the traditional
networking sessions.
We also distribute a regular email update to all of the 200 members. This has become hugely popular for the
comprehensive news and information as well as its relaxed and informal style.
The six network meetings will continue as before, with a discussion topic for each meeting, time for coffee
and networking with other coordinators and a firm promise that the session will finish on time. We would
have some fun if all 20 members turn up, but we normally welcome between 30 and 40 people to each meeting.
We rotate these sessions around the days and between mornings and afternoons so that as many people as possible
can attend.
The dates of these "traditional" VCN meetings are in the table below. You will also see a second set of VCN
sessions, to be called VCN Plus. These new sessions, which will focus on a specific issue within volunteer
management, will last for three hours and will be open to a smaller group of people who will explore the
issue in more depth than can be accommodated in the Network meeting. VCN Plus sessions will be free to VCN
members, (non-members will be able to join the network at the normal cost at the time of booking.)
Although we already have a lot of great ideas from VCN members for these sessions, we are open to your suggestions
for these sessions. The final programme will be available by the end of October and we will open up the
bookings for the VCN Plus sessions at that time.
