Community Day Bank Holiday
You may already know that Volunteering England is a partner in a campaign to secure a new Bank Holiday dedicated
to celebrating and promoting voluntary community activity. Community Day would fall during the autumn half
term break in October, breaking the long run of 16 weeks without a holiday between August and Christmas.
Public holidays are an immensely popular part of life in the UK. These national days of celebration also
play a vital part in ensuring that we have a proper balance between our working lives and the rest of our
lives. We need time to pursue our hobbies, to exercise, to learn, to get involved in our local communities
and to have fun.
The campaign launched on 29th October and you can find out more about how to support
the campaign at www.volunteering.org.uk/communityday
