Your Rights As A Volunteer:
Every volunteer has the right to :
- Be treated as a co-worker
- not just free help
- not as a prima donna
- A suitable assignment with consideration for personal preference, temperament, life experience, education
and employment background
- Know as much about the organisation as possible :
- Training for the job :
- thoughtfully planned and effectively presented
- Continuing education on the job :
- as a follow up to initial training
- information about new developments
- training for greater responsibility
- Sound guidance and direction :
- by someone who is experienced, well-informed, patient and thoughtful and who has the time to invest
in giving advice
- A place to work :
- an orderly, designated place
- conducive to work
- worthy of the job to be done
- Promotion and a variety of experience :
- through advancement to assignments of more responsibility
- through transfer from one activity to another
- Be heard :
- to have a part in the planning
- feel free to make suggestions
- to have respect shown for an honest opinion
- Recognition :
- through day by day expressions of appreciation
- by being treated as a bona fide co-worker
