We run a range of practical courses that will help you develop your group or organisation. The courses focus on the needs of Nottingham groups and take place in Nottingham city centre at NVAC on Mansfield Road.

| Roles and responsibilities of management committees | Giving your time to be on a committee or board of a community group or charity can be very rewarding. It can also be quite daunting if you are not sure what your responsibilities are or what your role is. This session will answer any questions and explain what your role is. | Thursday 6 May |

| Introduction to full cost recovery | Full cost recovery can help solve the problems groups have when attempting to cover their running costs. This session will explain how full cost recovery works and give practical advice on how to achieve it. | Tuesday 22 June 9.30am - 1pm |

| Applying for small grants | Competition for grants of up to £10,000 is fierce so applications need to be really strong. This course will go back to basics and will cover project planning, examples of application forms and practical exercises. | Quality assurance briefing | How do you know which quality assurance system is best for your organisation? How long does it take and how much does it cost? | Monitoring and evaluation | Have you been asked by your funder or grant holder to fill in a monitoring form? Are you overwhelmed by the amount of information you need to give? This course will help you prepare and fill in monitoring forms more confidently. | Friday 17 September 9.30am - 1pm |
| Outcomes or impact of your work | Most funders now ask: what impact will your project make? You must prove to funders that your group's activities have an impact and produce the 'outcomes' you state they do. This course will help you to explain the outcomes of your project or activities and how to monitor and evaluate them. | Tuesday 14 September 9.30am - 3.30pm |
| Introduction to discipline and grievance | A basic introduction to discipline and grievance in a lively, interactive session covering essentials and building confidence. | Tuesday 21 September 9.30am - 1pm |
| Managing meetings | Does your group or committee find it difficult to come to agreements and make decisions? This course aims to give you the knowledge to help you make your meetings more effective and save you time. Ideal for new or experienced committee officers and others with little experience who would like to develop some skills in this area. | Tuesday 28 September 9.30am - 1pm |
These courses are available on a 'first come, first serve' basis, so we recommend you book as soon as possible to confirm your place.

Level 1 - Has no experience in this field
Level 2 - Has some experience in this field but would like more
Level 3 - Has extensive experience in this field
