Choices
There are plenty of different ways of learning about the Internet to suit everyone. You can attend informal
workshops where you can pickup skills on a 'need to know' basis. One of the easiest ways of learning more
is to use the BBC online set-by-step course. Where you
can learn at your own pace at any location (providing there is Internet access).
Learning from a CD is also becoming popular. The entire course and learning materials are available on the
CD, and you can study at home, in an office - wherever you like as long as you have a computer with a CD
drive. This method of study is flexible as you can learn at your own pace at times that suit you.
If you prefer the more personal touch, you can sign-up to a course near to you. There are over a hundred
different courses locally, spread across Nottingham. Many courses are run outside the college campus, so
it makes it easier to get to. Choices include short courses which require only a morning or afternoon focussed
on one aspect of the Internet e.g. e-mail. Other options include courses which cover a wide range of computer
skills e.g. databases, spreadsheets & desk top publishing. Many of these courses can also be studied
on a flexible basis where you can book your time to suit your lifestyle (and learn in the evening or at
weekends).
There are also course which are focussed on a particular programme or application e.g. Microsoft Word, Sage
Accounting. You can choose the level which suits you from beginner to advanced (ideal for people who use
an application, but want to get the maximum benefit from it).
