Examples of Good Practice
- The aim was to celebrate the official opening of a large multi purpose centre. An MP opened the day event
which had a full timetable of activities and taster sessions/demonstrations.
- An ethnic minority lunch club hosted an event and invited service providers from social services, welfare
rights, RNIB, Police etc. With interpreters an information exchange took place. Many providers took information
in the appropriate language which empowered the community to feel enabled and valued.
- A school invited a DARE office to talk to parents and children about drugs and the best way to protect
children. A ‘pretend’ box of drugs was discussed, a video shown and a talk given.
- A Recruitment of Volunteers event by a Citizens Advice Bureau and to fundraise to improve training room
facilities. Recruitment packs were available for people to take away on the day.
- A workshop to encourage local partners and potential beneficiaries to have the opportunity to input into
an SRB funding bid. The bid was to promote the use of ICT by first identifying factors which make ICT accessible.
To promote community learning by identifying gaps and needs as well as issues faced by service providers.
