Post 16 School Travel scheme
Students whose families are on low incomes should apply for an Education Maintenance
Allowance (EMA), which may be used to assist with the cost of transport to and
from college.
Students that are refused an EMA on grounds, other than family income, may apply
to the City Council Education Transport Department for a Half-Fare Student Travel
Pass for a commercial bus service, providing they meet the qualifying criteria.
Students attending a college outside of the Greater Nottingham Transport Area
may apply to the LEA for a Half-Fare Student Travel Pass if the college is the
nearest that offers the desired course and the course cannot be taken at a college
local to the students home address.
In special circumstances students with mobility difficulties or special educational
needs may be provided with specialised transport services by the LEA, based on
the nature of their disability. There is no charge made to the student for this
service.
