One Nottingham Neighbourhood Renewal Small Grants Scheme
The small grants scheme is now very much tied to the Neighbourhood Renewal agenda and the local floor targets
for this.
Grants are still available across the city but will be required to help the most deprived neighbourhoods,
which are mainly: Arboretum, Aspley, Bestwood, Bilborough, Bridge, Bulwell, Clifton North, Dales, Dunkirk
& Lenton, Berridge & Mapperley, Radford & Park and St Ann's.
Projects should also seek to be helping the most marginalised communities e.g. young people, disabled people,
Black and other minority ethnic people, older people and lone parents etc.
You must also show what impact your project will have on national Floor Targets in at least one of six key
areas:
-
Employment
- Children's Services
- Health
- Liveability (Physical environment)
- Housing
- Crime
Each target has its own priority actions, neighbourhoods and priority groups or communities of interest - full details of these are in the new guidelines (www.nottscf.org.uk/).
You should also indicate if your project will meet any of the following criteria:
-
Build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector
- Improve involvement in decision making
- Improve opportunities for volunteering
- Improve community cohesion
This may seem an awful lot of hoops to jump through for a relatively small amount of money - maximum £5,000
- but the application forms remain fairly straight forward.
Applicants must be local, constituted groups with an equal opportunities policy or statement, a child/vulnerable
adult protection policy where relevant and an annual income of below £200K.
If you have any problems or queries you can speak to a grants officer at Nottinghamshire Community Foundation
on 01623 620202. Or you can contact the NCVS Funding Advisor, Cathy White, on 0115 934 8426 who can also
help you with your application form and other paperwork or signpost you to other sources of funding if you
aren't eligible for these particular grants.
