Community Development Grants
The Council is committed to supporting the Voluntary and Community Sector to realise its potential.
The requirement from Central Government for Local Authorities to strengthen partnership working with the Voluntary and Community Sector is a priority for Nottingham City Council and was a key recommendation of a recent Overview and Scrutiny Task and Finish Panel Report. The Task and Finish Panel Report recommended a strategic review of the resources (e.g. grants), support and information provided across the sector and it is necessary to strengthen the capacity of the service to support the further development of the sector, working closely with the Local Council for Voluntary Service and other strategic voluntary organisations.
The Voluntary and Community Sector Development Team in the Neighbourhood Support Service – a new team in the Neighbourhood Strategy and Support Division in our Neighbourhood Services Directorate – will be providing particular support to the Sector.
In addition to specific support to Community Associations managing Community Centres, the Council also provides support to emerging and grass-roots organisations that are not necessarily based in physical buildings. There is a specific team of officers supporting community development.
